Unlike standard video media, certified Exabyte data grade cartridges are specifically engineered for data storage. Through an advanced media formulation, Exabyte media yields an extremely uniform magnetic-coated surface which ensures dependable recording and preservation of data. Accelerated tests indicate an archival life to exceed 30 years when stored under recommended environmental conditions. And the unique backcoating helps prevent frictional changes associated with repeated usage to maintain stable tape performance (up to 1500 passes) within normal operating conditions. Recommended for use with all 8mm tape drives, certified Exabyte media is also optimized for use in Exabyte libraries. The high-precision cartridge design reduces friction between the lid and shell, resulting in up to 10,000 open/shut repetitions. The data cartridge shell is made of heat- and shock-resistant ABS resin to assure stable tape transport and to provide protection in the toughest conditions. In addition, the polypropylene storage case protects the tape from dust particles and absorbs physical shock during transportation and handling.
